Harvard 375: A (Soggy) Success

Posted by on October 15, 2011 at 5:17 pm

For those who waited out the pouring rain (not to mention the mud/a lot of ruined shoes), Harvard’s  375th birthday party was as good as promised. Yo-Yo Ma’s performance was flawless, the long-anticipated red velvet cake was delectable to the taste, and the dance party was pumpin’. Excellent job, Harvard, but no thanks to you, Boston weather, for literally raining on our parade.

Also, can someone tell me where to get one of those Engineering School shirts?

Primal Scream Pics – Yep, we took ‘em

Here they are just in time for runners to reminisce and for creepers to creep! For those of you who’ve always wondered what it looked like but didn’t want to get too close, here’s what a bunch of kids streaking through Harvard Yard the night before finals looks like. SOSFW(sort of safe for work). And for those of you with netbooks they’re big enough to save as your wallpaper. You’re welcome, creeps.

A Taste of Spring

Posted by on March 8, 2010 at 1:16 am

It’s true what they say, the weather is beautiful when it’s either Parents’ Weekend or Prefrosh Weekend. These past two days, it was hard to tell whether our zip code was 02138 or 90210. Sunlight, instead of slush and puddles, covered Tercenary Theater. T-shirts and frisbees, instead of hideous snowboots and down jackets, inhabited the Yard. Like Harvard itself, the city of Cambridge seems adept at showing off its best assets and luring outsiders into thinking that it’s all flowers and butterflies (or, in this case, short skirts and sunglasses). It’s a match made in heaven, practically.

Embrace the amazing weather while it lasts! Go run along the river and burn off those extra pounds you packed because it was too cold and there was nowhere else to go but Annenberg (and no other option but to stay there for the next two hours). Bring your books to the Yard and pretend to look scholarly while suntanning and staring at the squirrels. Or, you know, hide in Lamont and stay pale while your blockmates turn a bright shade of orange.

The waterworks are supposed to make a comeback on Friday and stay until the following Tuesday, according to Weather.com. Guess it’s still 02138.
