Cabot rounded off the last of the Housing Day videos as it released its Housing Day video last night, and we’re impressed. The video seems to be based off of Google’s “Parisian Love” ad that was shown during the Super Bowl, with lyrics to the tune of “Anyone Else But You” from the Juno soundtrack.
You’ve probably noticed like us if you have g-mail like everyone at this school that there’s a new little icon on the left side of your screen: GOOGLE BUZZ. We already had an open thread on your thoughts, but a Harvard Law student took this dialogue to the next level and straight up sued the internet Goliath.
Eva Hibnick, 24, is the principal Harvard law student behind the class action lawsuit claiming “that it severely compromised her and others’ privacy.” The Harvard Law Record explains the conflict rather well in stating that “many [GMail users last week] were perturbed by the fact that the service automatically created networks out of their email contacts. In many cases, these ad hoc networks exposed correspondence that users would have rather kept private.” This Thursday, ABC reported that Hibnick had filed a class action lawsuit claiming that Buzz violates a number of federal laws. One of Hibnick’s attorneys stated that the goal behind the suit “was a commitment from Google that they’re not going to do this again the next time they launch a product.”
You think Google went too far or do you like the Buzz?
With Google’s new release of Buzz, an attempt to synthesize popular networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Blogspot, and Flickr together–do you think this is actually a worthwhile endeavor or pointless? Will you use it? Or do you think it’s annoying?
Google Chrome, and now Google Buzz... errr.
RAISE YR VOICES. WE KNOW YOU’RE INSIDE AT YR COMPUTERS. PROBS ON BUZZ.
