Posted by on December 5, 2011 at 8:00 pm

It’s almost the end of the year, which means you should get yourself one of these coveted calendars, based on The Voice’s most popular article of the last academic year - “10 Guys You’ll Meet at Harvard.”

They have elicited various “Wows” and “Do these guys actually go to Harvard?” comments from onlookers at the Activities Fair earlier this year. Don’t miss out!

Specs: 11.0″ x 8.50″ on glossy calendar paper, printed by Vistaprint.

Price: $12. (Similar calendars sell for $16 on Vistaprint.)

Free shipping by campus mail for Harvard students. Non-Harvard buyers will be charged a flat shipping rate of $3.

Artist of the Month: Ra Ra Riot

Posted by on November 17, 2011 at 5:35 pm

Late last month, The Voice hosted Ra Ra Riot, an indie rock band from Syracuse, NY, at a private event where they were presented with our inaugural “Artist of the Month“ award.

Formed in 2006, the band’s second and latest album, titled “The Orchard,” was released last August, featuring a collaboration from Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij. In January of this year, the band was nominated for The 10th Annual Independent Music Awards under the Pop/Rock Album category.

The Fresh Five, Part Four

Posted by on October 10, 2011 at 10:26 pm

The fourth and penultimate installment of our series on “Famous Freshmen.”

4. Ansel Duff

Giving his best killer look.

Ansel who, you might ask.

Well, we are kind of running out of freshmen celebrities by now, and he might not ring as many bells as the previous two did.  But in all fairness, Ansel Duff is definitely a guy to watch out for.

First of all, he’s got this band:

http://www.facebook.com/TheAnchors

…which he started with Alex and Ian Mothe during Christmas break of his junior year in high school. Within only a few months, they made quite a name for themselves in New Bedford, Massachusetts, drumming up support through various local gigs and band tours. The Anchors also garnered some name recognition for themselves through features in local newsletters.

In his senior year, Ansel decided to fly solo. He spent all summer recording two original songs: “Stay the Course” and “Colours Fade” (both of which have been launched on iTunes), and so began to establish a legit reputation as the “Ansel Duff.”

Get the picture? Good. You might want to know that the guy also happens to be tall and attractive, with a pair of large, sensitive-looking brown eyes that exude the sincere charms of an artist (definitely a feature that will come in handy to convince his fans that he means every word he sings). So ladies (and half of Harvard boys as well), if you don’t like his music, just plug your ears and let yourself get carried away by his irresistibly shy, melancholic smile.  It works, trust me.

Frappuccino Happy Hour

Posted by on May 8, 2011 at 4:04 pm

Ladies and gents, it’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not taking about finals period (when the only sleeping around you do is in Lamont, and the only thing that goes down is your GPA #butreally).

From May 6th to May 15th (next Sunday), all local Starbucks stores will hold their Frappuccino Happy (Two) Hour(s) from 3pm – 5pm. During this time, get your favorite blended drinks at half-price!

In addition, Starbucks is also bringing back two coconut-flavored drinks for the summer: The Mocha Coconut Frappuchino and the Coconut Creme Frappuchino. I don’t know what the difference is except for the varying levels of sugar and sugary syrup, but you feel free to explore!

Everybody, let’s get fat! As if that’s not the natural by-product of Reading/Finals Period already.
