The Editors' Blog: Alisha Ramos

Alisha Ramos is, among many other things, vertically challenged. That is to say, she is five feet tall and is oft reminded of this fact by her insensitive peers who like to make insensitive remarks like, "Alisha, you make a great armrest!" or "Alisha, I never realized how short you are!" Despite this, she remains positive and not bitter at all, really. She likes: compulsive online shopping to combat woeful grades, Febreezing the common room of her suite, chillaxin' with bros (if you're a bro, please call her), and tweeting as if her life depended on it. She can be bribed with macarons or cupcakes, and you can email her at adramos@fas. She is a sophomore living in Leverett House, and is currently Editor-In-Chief of The Voice.

Midcentury Proper

Posted by Alisha Ramos on January 22, 2010 at 1:18 pm

So I am a fan of Anthropologie on Facebook, and they just released this amazing sneak peak lookbook titled “Midcentury Proper.” I love the 60’s looks in the academic setting! Looks like a prettier version of Widener Library.

Also, given my track record I have come to realize that I will probably choose “fashion” or “style” as my beat for this amorphous Editor’s Blog.

Current Obsession: Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010

Posted by Alisha Ramos on January 15, 2010 at 1:39 pm

Proenza’s pre-fall collection has preppy vibes galore, and we all know how much I approve. With varsity jackets, oxfords, and (my favorite) PLAID shorts, this collection is a nice bit of prim and polish. The two looks above are my favorite. It’s a refreshing, conservative break from the dizzying amounts of studs, sequins, and embellishment-crazy pieces of fabric that have walked down the runway for the past few seasons.  [link]

Sperry Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Posted by Alisha Ramos on January 11, 2010 at 1:13 am

Since it’s no longer a secret that I love prep style, I think it’s safe to announce my excitement about this: Sperry, maker of the ubiquitous Topsider, is celebrating its 75th anniversary with  some classic designs from when it first started, and from what I’ve seen so far, I am obsessed:

So perfect.

Forget Emma Watson….

Oh hayyyy

You may think that The Voice has a thing for Emma Watson, but damn. Her brother is way hotter! Emma’s 17-year-old brother Alex debuted as a model alongside her for the Burberry Spring/Summer ad campaign.

J-term: Where Productivity Goes to Die

Like, that dress is soooo pretty.

I wish I could say that I am having a productive or even semi-productive J-term. But I’m not. Did I just watch an entire season of The City? Yes. This show is addicting, okay? There ought to be more reality shows about perfectly polished, matte-skinned girls out there. What am I going to do now? I am tempted to write an ode to Whitney Port’s parted, pouted mouth or Olivia Palermo’s strangely angular and small face. In the meantime, I’ll have to watch reality shows about perfectly tanned, pouf-haired girls.

What shows have you been watching this J-term? I need recommendations to further the rotting of my brain.
